Unfortunately, our economy dictates that fixing things will almost always be more expensive than replacing them. Your best bet now is Burlington Coat Factory - although if someone has a local business they can recommend, then I will gladly second it.   Why are there zero corner trash cans anywhere south of South Street?

  1 0 Ben is mostly right - the onus for having trash cans falls on businesses in the area to actually pay for them. Sometimes it's an issue of owners not wanting to pay for the service. Other times, though, business associations in the area are either totally fragmented or nonexistent, so there is no organizational mechanism by which trash cans would actually be implemented. If I recall correctly, Passyunk has trash cans on it, while the area closer to my house on 6th and Tasker does not. I would be surprised if there was any strong, formal solidarity among the businesses in my immediate neighborhood.
